Nosebleeeeeed ka ba sa nakaraang isyu ng eucreo? Napansin mo bang puro English ‘yon? Well well well, nagbasa ka man o hindi, naki-emote ka man o nakitawa, nakibasa o nakisagot sa evaluweysyon islip .. humanda ka sa di mapigilang hininga’t hikab at umaatikabong rebelasyon na itatransleyt natin sa tagalog. Eto ang pinakabagong kolumn ng pinakakyut na publikasyon sa balat ng earth now.

Sa inyong lahat mga kapatid, mga kasambahay at ka-opismeyt, may ginagawa man o sadyang inaatake ng katamaran at tumatambay sa tabi tabi, sa mga nanonood ng wawawi (ang programang dapat ay pang adults only dahil sa pirapirasong damit ng ey-es-ef), sa mga humihilik at humahagikhik, sa mga nangingiti, nangangati at nanggagalaiti, sa lahat ng tao sa mundo, bigotilyo at bigotilya, mga machong papa sa lahat ng sulok at kalye, sa mga sigang ate sa kanto na hanep sa porma (pare pakiss.. yak!)… makinig kayong lahat!

Isang napakahalagang anunsyo sa papel na hinahawakan mo ngayon ang dapat pagtuunan ng pansin. Ito ay ukol sa isang napakahalagang katanungan: ILANG TAONG GULANG KA NA BA?

Opo, tama po ang katanungang ito (mala mike enriquez). Ako ay nasa katinuan pa naman at syur manyur, ito ang gusto kong malaman > gaano ka na ba katanda??

Sa mundo ng kanormalan na pinaghahatulan ng mga hukom na naka gown na itim, madalas natin marinig ang salitang menor de edad (minor age). Ito ay tumutukoy sa mga taong wala pa sa hustong gulang. Kung baga sa lalake, puro paglalaro ng batobatopiks o kaya basketbol ang nalalaman. Kung sa babae naman, ay yung puro pagpapakyut at walang ibang ginawa kundi ang makyutan sa mga kyut na dumadaan. At sa mga binatilyong kaloka sa ahit ang kilay, na walang magawa kundi rumampa sa mall ever. Gayundin sa mga dalagitang maton na panay ang pagdiskarte sa mga seksing tsiks sa mall din. Sila nga, sila nga ay ang mga wala pang muang sa mundong ibabaw.

Kung hindi ka kabilang sa kanila, ano ka na? Madalas sabihin ng magugulang na magulang na kailangan mong magro ap (grow up). Mag-isip, mabuhay, at tumayo nang naka heels. Kung titingnan mo ang iyong sarili, kabilang ka na ba sa mayor de edad at hustong gulang na daw?  Marami sa atin na naturingang adult eh umuurong sa pagiging infant. Parang bonjing na daig pa ang batang inagawan ng lolipap kung umatungaw at wag

ka, sadyang hahanap ng kaaway para makipagbuntalan sa gitna ng kalye. Madalas ang buntalan na ito ay nauuwi sa demandahan sa korte o kaya naman, sa mga hindi ganun kasosyal, ay nauuwi sa pagdanak ng pulang likido na alam na nating humahantong sa inisan at tutukan ng taga at sairan ng tapang at ubusan ng lahi. Hay, kasingbabaw ng butas ng mister donut (o sige dunkin donut na rin) ang kaisipan ng mga pasaway na taong ito. Hindi ba’t dapat na wag gantihin ng masama ang masama? At Dapat magmahalan? Nakow, nasaan na nga ba ang tunay na kamatyuran.

Siguro’y nalilito na ang iyong utak na pilit gustong mag-hibernate muna hindi lang dahil sa init ng panahon ngayon  kundi dahil sa puntong nais kong ipaalam. Nais ko lang naman ipabatid na seryoso ako sa aking pakikibaka at pakikipaglaban ng puntong ito. Sadyang masidhi ang aking paghihingapis dahil isa lamang ang aking nais iparating. GRO AP! (grow up!) – Ika nga ng magugulang na magulang. Minsan nga naman, may matitino din silang suhestyon, at yun yon!

Ngunit hindi nga? Mahirap ba maging matyur? (mature)

Sinasabing ang pagiging mature ay hindi naaayon sa pisikal na aspeto, kaya naman wala yan sa rinkels o kaya sa amoy. Hindi rin ito binabase sa edad o kaya naman sa dami ng librong nabasa. Lalong lalo nang hindi sa dami ng ulit ng pagkapanood ng twilight o harry potter na hindi ko mawari kung bakit adik ang marami. Ang matyuriti ay tungkol sa ATTITUDE. Oo, attitude o karakter. Meron ka ba nyan? Ang ating Amang nasa langit ay tumitingin sa ating karakter at hindi sa medalya o layfsays na trofi sa cabinet ng iyong mama.

Heto ang tseklist para malaman mo kung ikaw ay may ATTITUDE!

1. POSITIBO SA MGA ORAS NG KANGARAGAN – dito nasusubok ang iyong pananalig sa Diyos. Kayang kaya mo bang bumanat ng todo kahit ikaw ay nanghihina? Kaya mo bang ibigay ng husto at manatiling umaangkin ng katagumpayan dahil naniniwala ka na sumasaiyo ang pinakamalakas na back-up na si Hesus? Esep esep.
2. SENSITIBONG PARANG PIMPOL- Ikaw ba ay sadyang hindi manhid sa mga tao sa paligid? Puwes! Kailangan mong maging tulad ng isang pimpol o pigsa na madampian lang ng kahit sing-pirasong square millimeter ay aaray! Kailangan maging concerned sa mga tao sa iyong paligid. Yan ang tunay na kamatyuran. Magmahalan tayong lahat.
3. HINDI BASAGULERO O BUNGANGERA- ang isang matyur na tao ay pismeyker. Hindi sya naghahanap ng away sa kanto or kung saang suluk sulok. Marunong syang magsaayos ng kaguluhan. Hindi na baleng magulo at kasintigas ng alambre sa sampayan ang emo-emohan nyang buhok, basta’t ang kanyang puso ay mapagmahal sa kapayapaan. Ang Diyos ay sadyang nalulugod sa mga taong ganito.
4. MAPAGPASENSYA AT MADASALIN- ang taong matyur ay pinagkakalooban ng Diyos ng malawak na pang-unawa at mahabang pasensya. Ang peysyens (patience) ay hindi direktang ibinibigay ng Maykapal dahil sabi nga sa ‘evan almighty’, bibigyan ka ng Ama ng pagkakataon upang masubukan ang iyong peysyens, hindi Nya ibibigay sau ang peysyens na nakabalot sa makintab na gipraper at may card pa! haler! Tumawag ka lamang sa Kanya at siguradong hindi sya mauubusan ng load para magtext back. Pramis!

Matapos mong itsek ang mga dapat itsek sa apat na ito (nawa ay mayroon kahit isa man lang o kalahati), nais kong icongratulate ka dahil ikaw ay nasa proseso ng pagiging matyur. At para malaman mo, malaman nya, malaman nating lahat – Ito ang tunay na karangalan sa mata ng Ama!

Walang halaga ang rekognisyon ng mundong ito o kahit anong gantimpala sa mga patimpalak kung wala kang attitude! Sa buhay na ito, hindi mahalaga ang yaman ng mundo o ang tindi ng IQ ng isang tao, dahil para sa ating Bosing sa heaven, ang PUSO ang kanyang sinasaliksik. Kaya tayo na! Gro ap na!

Sakay na………..!!!!!!

Kung inyong natatandaan ito ang huling alok ni Mega Star sa kanyang patalastas na Super Ferry (noong mga taong halos hindi ko na nga matandaan). Ito rin ang madalas na marinig natin sa mga makukulit na mamang drayber ng pampasaherong mga sasakyan.

Isang imbitasyong nagmumula sa mga taong hindi mo naman talaga kakilala. Ngunit baklit ka pa tumutugon o sumasakay? Marahil hindi mo rin alam kung bakit, o di kaya’y sasabihin mong gwapo kasi yong nagyaya kaya doon ako, o di kaya naman ay wala lang kailangan ko talagang sumakay at makaalis. Sa iba’t – ibang kadahilanan tayo ay hindi nagkakasundo.

Kung ang isang tulad mo na ordinaryong tao dito sa napakalaking mundo ay pinara ng isang mama at niyayang sumakay, ikaw ba ay sasakay o hindi? Ang kasagutan nasa saiyo. Pero bilang payong kapatid. Isipin mo muna ang mga sasabihin ko at baka sakaling makatulong…

Una, kapag pinara ka ng isang estranghero at niyayang sumakay unang mong isaisip my pamasahe ba ako?..kung wala di bale na lang..pangalawa, kelangan ko ba talagang sumama?..mas maganda siguro maglakad na lang mraming benefits,…pangatlo, madadala ba ako ng sasakyang iyan sa aking destinasyon?…pwede naman kasi ng sarili kong paa di ba?…pang – apat, sinu – sino kaya mga makakasama ko sa dyip?…baka makasabay ako ng adik tapos pagnasaan pa ako…eeeeeeewwww….panglima, naligo ba ako?…kung hindi siyempre mangangamoy ako, kahiya man…pang – anim ikaw na bahala magdagdag.(hehehe) Sana kahit papaano akoa ay nakatulong saiyong desisyong sumukay sa imbitasyong sakay na…!

Sa buhay ng tao, lalo na sa panahong itong ay kay rami na ng mga bagay o kahit tao ang nagsasabi ng imbitasyong ito na lalo lamang nagpapahilo sa mga taong hindi makuhang magdesisyon ng nasa sarili nilang puso ang pasya. Partikular ito sa mga kabataang kamumuklat lang ng kanilang mga mata sa tunay na mundong umiinog sa ilalim ng araw. Kabataang kakalabas lang sa rehas ng paaralan, kakababa lang sa entablado ng karangalan bitbit ang premyo ng kanilang pawis at dugo. At sa kanilang paglalakad, itong mamang makulit ayan na naman nakaambang sa kanto habang pinagmamasdan ang inosenteng galaw ng kabataang bagong laya.

Kaya naman doon sa mga bagong layang kabataan, bago maniwala mag – isip – isip na muna, bago magdesisyon sa kung saan papatungo at kung tutugon sa alok ng isang imbetasyon. At kung sakaling ikaw ay nalilito sa mga naririnig na sigaw o  alok o bulong ng mundong ito, ang tanging maipapayo ko saiyo batang paslit ikaw ay bumalik at humingi ng payo sa iyong May Likha at sinisiguro kong ikaw ay makakasumpong ng kasagutan sa yaong Likha.

Sa huling habilin, kabataang sinasabi ng pambansang bayaning si Rizal na pag – asa ng bayan, bago ka sumakay o tumugon sa isang imbetasyon kapakanan ay isaalang- alang ang lahat ng bagay bago sumuong sa tunay na laban ng buhay.

Courage for Micah

Oh how she used to adore seeing the full moon on a cold Saturday night.  She’s not supposed to be with Micah but he’s beside her right now. He’s still the same guy she used to know. Handsome as always… He never failed to make her heart melt like butter every time she sees him. He’s the kind of guy who makes her want to look at his face over and over again. He doesn’t know, but she just loves to look at his lovely sparkling eyes that speak innocence in spite of his blatant arrogance. He is strong and full of confidence for himself. There’s just one thing she hates about him—he can read what she feels and he really finds it pleasurable to tease her! Grrrr… ..oh my! Is she that obvious???

But tonight, she can’t see Micah. He’s with her alright, but she knew something is wrong. She can feel it even if he’s not speaking; she just sits beside him. There’s a big space of silence between them. She doesn’t wanna speak either. She’s afraid she might say the wrong words. She terribly missed him and he doesn’t have any idea that she was getting torn by the fact that she won’t be seeing him for months. No communication at all, not even through texting. And she knew the new heights of challenges he’ll be facing on a training camp.

Extensive trainings, strenuous activities, mind-grappling tasks that will test his skills and endurance. It’s the kind of life that he chooses—the life of a SOLDIER.

She can’t find any words to say. She knows right from the very start that she’s not capable of strengthening him. So she just grabbed his hands and held them tightly, not wanting to let him go.  She looked straight to his eyes, but hoping he can’t see this pain that’s starting to consume her. His weakness was clearly mirrored on his beautiful eyes that’s starting to get wet…She felt the urge to cuddle him like a child but she was afraid she  might just show her heart squeezed like a sponge to see him like this. Until he broke the silence with these words…

‘’I’m weak inside but I’m not supposed to show this to you. But I want you to know that no matter what happens, I won’t give up. I want to show you that in spite of these struggles inside of me, I am fighting so hard.”

He’s holding her hand so tight…. this seems to be the only thing she can give him. She loses the power to give him the strength he needs but she ought to be strong for him. Then she started recalling the story of her favorite Bible character. “I remember what God said when Joshua was about to face his enemies, be strong and courageous. The Lord was with him and so he was able to overcome all of his battles. Just imagine how all kingdoms unite their forces in trying to defeat Joshua and his people. They are all powerful and their unified strength can terrify you. But none of these kingdoms have won because the Lord was with Joshua. I know that you’ll be facing a tough battlefield when you leave, but I know that He will be with you, and I put my trust in Him that you will surpass the challenges that God has given you.”  she said without looking at him, flashing a smile with growing excitement as she proclaims the triumph of the Lord.

“When you’re on the weakest point of your life, I hope you will be inspired by Gideon. When God asked him to save the Israelites from Midian’s hand, do you know what his response is? He claimed that his clan is the weakest and he is the least in his family. Maybe he’s really weak. I imagined the kind of self-esteem that he has- so fragile, so untrusting, so desperate. But God made him a winner. He had 15,000 soldiers with him fighting against 120,000 from Zebah and Zalmuna. (Judges 8:7; 8:10). And you I guess you know what happened. Gideon won because the Lord was with him. In your weakness, He’ll show you how mighty He is!”

“Woah! 15,000 against 120,000?!!!!” He exclaimed.

“uhuh”, she replied gently but arrogantly, not trying to look at him again.

“Amazing!!…that was incredible!!”…

“Thanks, that what I exactly needed!”……

There’s a long silence. He held her hand again and both closed their eyes.

Then he whispered on her ears, “I’ll miss you a lot,… and I love you so much  Miss…”

She didn’t bother to say another word and instead she looked at him tenderly, enjoying a great view of his handsome face.

“I’ll wait for you”

“yeah.. and I promised you that the enemies can’t do anything to make me give up the fight. We’ll never back down you understand me??” Micah said to her with full of assurance. She just nodded, not uttering a single word.

She’s stronger now, armed with courage to go on with her faith to God. She knew it’s not going to be easy. But trusting more God and learning the battles he have won thousand years ago gave her hope and assurance. Micah will be alright. He’ll survive there, carrying the name of God…

The “DESTROYER OF MEXICO”. This recognition is only bestowed to our very own world-class boxer Manny Pacquiao when he ruled over the ferocious boxers of Mexico like Morales, de la Hoya, Marquez and Barrera. But what is the secret of Manny Pacquiao behind this unimaginable success? We know that he is very much blessed with money, fame, fortune, including a happy family. But we are very much interested to find out the formula behind the secret punch of Pacman. We don’t need to be as famous like him but we can aspire to be successful in our simple lives. 1. He is disciplined. Before facing the ring with the champions, Pacman spend his time in strenuous and painstaking practice and exercises. TRUE SUCCESS

“Reaching the sky while your feet remain stepping on the ground”. What a very inspiring sentence that will surely hit anyone reading this paper. Eucreo believes that it is not bad to aim higher as long as you don’t see yourself bigger nor better than others. We exclaim that this is the true success in the eyes of God.

Formerly, we, the Eucreons, were people with different perspectives about life. One is an atenean who was a former member of a psychic team in her university. One is a former editor in chief in BU who had no other agenda in life but to criticize and make lampoons about BU professors and faculty members. One is a former servant leader in BU who has become among the most-in-demand speakers in her class. And the rest have also made it big in their respective universities as servant leaders.

We all had achievements before, but as we go on and take the step by step chores that God has appointed us, we simply realize that it is not about us, because IT IS ALL ABOUT HIM. True success is never about our medals, certificates, commendations, tokens, and trophies. It is importantly about what our hearts say.

God inspects our hearts, and the true success gauge is the one He’s using. As we go on and let God guide our steps, we make sure that we testify to God’s love as we look back to our trails. God changed us. However, we know that He is not through with us yet. We are maturing. We are still undergoing the permanent process called “change”.

As we move on and experience the stress and hurt of the process, just like caterpillars getting ready to be butterflies, we always look up and learn to say “I trust You Lord” instead of “I trust myself.” While in tears we’ve learned to say “You own the throne” instead of questioning “why?” And in pain we’ve kept ourselves REJOICING for we understand that after the tests, we will learn something and will earn perseverance.

A happy heart is what each one of us got as a profit, and we owe it from God. Hence, even until our last breath, we are certain that our hands will be held up high while our feet remain on the ground.

Sometimes I just wonder why everytime I ride a jeepney, my entrance song is…

FM static is raising the roof over and over again. Everyone seems to sing “tonight” even if the sun is up and still striking it’s scorching sting.

So what’s with FM static?

Did you know that FM static is a side project of the band Thousand Foot Krutch? Trevor McNevan (vocalist) and Steve Augustine (drummer) are both originally from TFK, a popular Christian band that originated from Toronto. FM static and TFK are currently signed to Tooth and Nail Records, a label that allows Christian artists to create their art.

The song tonight is written by Trevor himself as a deeply expressive recollection of his much-missed brother who passed away. Truly, this guy is not just vulnerable when it comes to his vocal abilities but also with his heart. The softness of the heart of a Christian will always be reflected through his ways.

Someone like Trevor has become a good model for stewardship. Glory to God! We believe that more songs will be written by him in the future for God’s glory.

AFTER GRADUATION?

Unemployment rate in the Philippines will remain until the next months according to many analysts. The Philippines has one of the highest unemployment levels in Southeast Asia, standing at 6.8 percent as of October 2008, according to the country’s National Statistics Office.  In Luzon, northern Philippines, Intel Corp., the first U.S. semiconductor firm that has established a facility in the Philippines, shut down its factory and retrenched 1,800 workers. In Cebu, southern Philippines, furniture maker and exporter Giardini del Sole Inc. has temporarily shut down and laid off about 250 workers as a result of the financial crisis. These and more have become threats to most Pinoy-based companies in the country.

The Philippine Labor Department reported that 40,000 workers were retrenched, 33,000 workers are experiencing shorter working hours while over 5,400 overseas Filipino workers were displaced because of the crisis. This March 2009, 700,000 graduating students are first to face these problems. The fear of not getting any job after graduation is a common feeling to all anyways.

We always have this feeling together with disappointments about the government, which seems to be blamed for why we remain as the most unemployed country in South East Asia. But the truth is that, we are not alone in Asia or around the globe experiencing this problem. We must face the fact that we are living in a period of global economic crisis.

I am about to graduate this March 30, 2009 in my baccalaureate course- Bachelor of Science in Management.  I am just a common Filipino hoping for a bright future after graduation and I cannot do anything about all these disappointments. Nor I have control over the actions of our state leaders regarding solutions to address the problem. But I have a BIG FAITH coming from above that “God will provide”. Though I have these facts about unemployment registered in my mind, I just keep on hoping that there’s something for me out there, God is good so why worry?

I wonder how the birds could eat everyday in spite of the fact that they are not able to plant seeds. The flowers stood-up so beautifully everyday without any sign of creation by themselves. I believe we are loved by God more than the birds and flowers.

Switchfoot Dares to Move People through the Power of Music

“We really wanted go into this album making sure that there was hope throughout. That is certainly something that is lacking in our generation. To have hope on a deeper level is not only absent from music, but from the pop culture in general.”

Everyone knows “A Walk to Remember”. Who can ever forget this movie? Aside from its memorable romantic scenes, its theme songs are really inspiring. When I first heard the song “Dare You to Move”, I know that it created an unexplainable impact for me.

Switchfoot is an American rock band that springs from the state of California. The band members are Jon Foreman, Tim, Chad, and Jerome. But hey! They didn’t just decide to be an ordinary rock and roll band so simply make music for the sake of money and popularity.

Do you know that they are Christians? It doesn’t seem to be obvious, but they are. The band is not denying their faith in Christ since their music inspires a lot of people. The songs make sense and spiritually applicable. As reviewed by one Christian site, the lyrics created by Switchfoot are intelligent, thoughtful, and rational and will not give you a hint of hopelessness and depression. They are Christians and their faith is clearly expressed through their music.

Jon Foreman admitted that being an ordinary rock and roll band is pointless. The band desires to give the accurate view of Christian perspective through their music. Most of all, Foremen tried to emphasize the message of hope that we had in Christ for renewal, completion, wholeness, and meaning. Generally they’ve got a message of hope wrapped in imaginative music. Not a blind hope that ignores and denies the difficulties of life. Rather, a real solid hope built upon a strong foundation of faith.

Yes, life is hard but the album of Switchfoot infuses hope on a deeper level to reach the general crowd, and the pop culture. But this is Biblical hope, in his song “Let that Be Enough” he read Isaiah 40 as an introduction.

As I quoted this on Switchfoot’s review:

“It starts out ‘Comfort, comfort ye my people,’” he recites. “Then it goes into talking about being basically a voice in the desert, saying ‘Prepare a way for the Lord. Make straight a highway for our God.’ That He will raise up the valleys, and bring down the mountains.”

The band didn’t want to be boxed as purely Christian when it comes to music. So when it comes to creating music, the band sees to it that they’re doing a no ordinary thing. Switchfoot matches clever lyrics with unforeseen musical phrasings to produce a rambling yet harmonious rock-pop dish. They try to pull different sources of musical influence like a combination of R&B and soul.

While they are striving to improve their lyrics, they feel the pressure to excel in all aspects of their lives while in the pursuit of following the path of Jesus Christ.
